Earthquake in Tennessee
A 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck Tennessee on Saturday morning, felt as far away as Atlanta, but no injuries or significant damage were reported. Originating near Greenback, Tennessee, about 30 miles south of Knoxville, the quake prompted over 23,000 reports to the USGS within the first hour. The southeastern U.S. has a notable earthquake risk, particularly in the East Tennessee Seismic Zone, which has experienced several similar tremors in the past, including a 4.4 magnitude quake in December 2018.
