Bay of Plenty Man Fined for Unpermitted Pool and Cabana

A Bay of Plenty man has been fined for conducting unconsented building work at his beachfront Pāpāmoa property, which included a poolside cabana with a kitchen and a standalone garage containing a bedroom and bathroom. The illegal structures were discovered by Tauranga City Council officers after spotting them in a real estate listing. Additionally, the pool lacked council approval and compliant fencing. The council’s building team routinely checks real estate listings for compliance with pool regulations.
