Dutch broadcaster to boycott Eurovision due to neutrality concerns

The Dutch public broadcaster AVROTROS has announced it will not participate in the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, citing concerns over the event’s neutrality due to ongoing international conflicts, particularly the war in Gaza. Director-General Taco Zimmerman stated that the contest has become a platform for division. This decision follows a series of boycotts related to Israel’s participation, which saw five countries withdraw from this year’s event, significantly impacting viewership. The 2027 contest is set to take place in Burgas, Bulgaria.
