Dubé pledges to stanch flow of Quebec doctors into the private sector

Quebec Health Minister Christian Dubé addressed the provincial legislature, stating that only three percent of the province’s doctors work in the private sector, and he aims to reverse this trend. In response to criticism from opposition members, Dubé announced plans to introduce a law requiring newly graduated doctors to work in Quebec’s public sector. The Quebec College of Physicians also called for a halt to further expansion of the province’s health-care system into the private sector.
