Iran Drones Escalate Horror as Sudan War Enters Fourth Year

Hundreds of civilians have been killed in drone strikes in Sudan since the beginning of 2026, with nearly 700 deaths reported by the United Nations. NGOs are concerned about the impact of the conflict in Iran on humanitarian aid efforts. The use of drones in the conflict has increased, leading to disruptions in daily life across Sudan, particularly in the southern Kordofan region and areas controlled by paramilitaries. Doctors Without Borders reported two more deaths in Darfur following drone strikes, with 56 people wounded in the attacks.

Why It Matters

The situation in Sudan is dire, with millions in need of humanitarian assistance due to the ongoing conflict. The use of drones has resulted in a high number of civilian casualties, including children, and has further exacerbated the humanitarian crisis. The war in Iran has also disrupted aid supply chains, making it more challenging for organizations to provide essential assistance to those in need. The international community must address these challenges to prevent further loss of life and suffering in Sudan.
