Kyiv, Ukraine

Hundreds of thousands in Russian-occupied southern Ukraine are without power due to damage from Ukrainian drone strikes, affecting over 200,000 households in the Zaporizhzhia region. Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy grid have intensified, resulting in at least two deaths and injuries in multiple regions, while Ukrainian President Zelenskyy emphasized the challenges of energy repairs and called for increased international support. A Ukrainian delegation is in the U.S. discussing peace settlement proposals related to postwar security and recovery, with possible signings at the upcoming World Economic Forum in Davos. Meanwhile, debris from a Ukrainian drone injured three in Russia’s North Ossetia, as Russian forces claimed to have downed numerous Ukrainian drones overnight.
