Drink Spiking Will Be Made A Criminal Offence Under Labour Bid To Protect Women And Girls

Labour leader Keir Starmer will announce plans to make drink spiking a criminal offence on Monday in an effort to reduce violence against women and girls. The measure includes training nighttime economy staff to spot and prevent spiking, with a pilot scheme launching in December and expanding to 10,000 bars nationwide by next spring. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper and UK Hospitality CEO Kate Nicholls support the initiative to protect individuals from the harmful impact of spiked drinks.
