Asbestos Found in Children’s Magic Sand Products

An Auckland mother, Tyra Ward, is concerned after asbestos was found in Kmart NZ’s Magic Sand products, leading to an urgent recall of four items. Her 2-year-old son enjoyed playing with the sand to build castles, and she learned about the recall shortly before leaving for work. She quickly disposed of the sand and highchair, and scheduled a medical check for her son. Ward expressed feeling “pretty nervous” about the situation.
