Osaka Receives Gold Bars for Water Pipe Repairs
Osaka has received a donation of gold bars worth 560 million yen (about $3.6 million) from an anonymous donor, intended specifically for repairing the city’s aging water pipes. Mayor Hideyuki Yokoyama expressed gratitude for the generous gift, emphasizing the urgency of infrastructure improvements following safety concerns linked to recent sinkhole incidents. Osaka faces a significant challenge with 160 miles of aging water pipes, and the donation will help address this pressing issue.
