President-elect Donald Trump plans to sign executive orders ending diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and declaring the federal government will only recognize two sexes, male and female. The actions, expected to be announced soon, are likely to face backlash from civil rights groups for undermining progress made in addressing systemic prejudices. The orders will also prohibit federal funding for promoting “gender ideology” and gender transition medical procedures.
