The Justice Department has moved to dismiss federal charges against Alfredo Alejandro Aljorna and Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis, who were accused of assaulting ICE officers in Minneapolis, citing “newly discovered evidence” that contradicts the allegations. Both men were charged after Sosa-Celis was shot by an officer during an incident following a vehicle pursuit. An attorney for Aljorna noted that video evidence was inconsistent with the officers’ claims of being assaulted. This decision comes amid heightened tensions in Minnesota following several officer-involved shootings.
