The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced no immediate plans for large-scale immigration operations in specific cities following the conclusion of Operation Metro Surge in Minnesota. This operation, previously the largest enforcement effort, involved over 3,000 agents and resulted in 4,000 arrests, raising concerns after fatal shootings by agents. Moving forward, DHS will prioritize arresting serious immigration offenders nationwide rather than targeting specific locations, with no future involvement from Border Patrol in interior enforcement. Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons reported 379,000 arrests within the first year of the Trump administration, despite a significant increase in arrests of individuals without criminal records.
