More than a dozen west Windsor homes owned by the Ambassador Bridge company are being demolished, with excavators tearing down properties on Indian Road and Rosedale Avenue as part of the bridge’s plan for a future secondary inspection plaza. The city issued 14 demolition permits for these properties, with more applications still under review, in an effort to address the longstanding dispute between the city and the bridge company over derelict dwellings in the historic neighbourhood. Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens expressed optimism about finding common ground with the bridge company to resolve issues and protect the oldest part of the city, Sandwich Town.
