Christian Menefee wins Texas House special election

Former Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee has won a special runoff election for a vacant House seat in Texas, defeating Amanda Edwards in a Democrat-only contest. He will fill an 11-month vacancy in the Houston-area district previously held by Rep. Sylvester Turner, who passed away in March. Menefee, who is already campaigning for a full term in a redrawn district, aims to address affordability issues. The House balance following this election will be 218 Republicans to 214 Democrats, with more special elections pending.
