Australia’s anti-Semitism envoy Jillian Segal proposed a plan to combat anti-Jewish sentiment, recommending funding cuts to tolerant universities and migrant deportation for anti-Semitic views, amid rising concerns following recent violent incidents. While the government, led by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, expressed support for the recommendations, the Jewish Council of Australia criticized the plan for potentially undermining democratic freedoms and silencing dissent.
