Deaths of Macdermott and The Kniphand overshadow Scottish Grand National

In the Scottish Grand National, last year’s winner Macdermott tragically became one of two fatalities, along with The Kniphand, during a tumultuous race that saw only eight finishers from 23 runners. Despite Macdermott’s bid to defend his title, he was pulled up before the 10th fence, while jockey Harry Atkins was stood down after being knocked unconscious.
