LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
A UPS cargo plane crashed near Louisville airport on Tuesday, resulting in at least seven fatalities and 11 significant injuries. The McDonnell Douglas MD-11, which caught fire on its left wing during takeoff, was en route to Honolulu when it exploded, leaving a large fire spanning nearly a city block. The airport was closed following the incident, and UPS stated that the National Transportation Safety Board would investigate. There was no hazardous cargo onboard, and operations at the UPS facility were halted.
