David Keith Lynch, born in 1946 in Missoula, moved frequently as a child due to his father’s job, eventually settling in Virginia where he developed a passion for painting. Inspired by the urban decay of Philadelphia, Lynch began incorporating film loops into his artwork, influenced by Francis Bacon. Despite dropping out of art school in 1967, Lynch remained in Philadelphia for three more years, creating a unique style that laid the foundation for his future work in film.
