The finale of Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord features a highly anticipated confrontation between Maul and Darth Vader. The encounter is marked by intense action, but notably, Vader remains silent throughout the battle. This choice, explained by Dave Filoni, highlights Vader’s transformation from Anakin Skywalker, as he battles foes who symbolize his past and the life he lost. The silence serves to emphasize Vader’s role as a destroyer, focusing solely on eliminating anything that reminds him of his former self. In this episode, Maul betrays his ally Daki, leading to Daki’s swift demise at Vader’s hands, furthering the narrative’s exploration of darkness and ambition. Speculation surrounds potential future developments for the character Devon, hinting at a connection to Darth Talon, a figure from George Lucas’s original sequel trilogy concepts.
