A new safe access law protecting women from harassment outside abortion clinics will take effect on September 24th, preventing protests within 200m of thirty clinics in Scotland. The legislation was introduced by Green MSP Gillian Mackay in response to concerns over anti-abortion protests outside hospitals, and passed by a vote of 118 to 1 in Holyrood. Secondary legislation will be implemented to enforce the new law.

Scots ‘were not ready’ to vote for independence in 2014, admits former Yes campaign chief
Blair Jenkins, former Yes campaign chief, admitted that a majority of Scots were not ready to vote for independence in the 2014 referendum, where 55% rejected leaving the UK. Jenkins stated that the pro-independence campaign could not have done anything differently to sway the outcome. The referendum on September 18, 2014, produced a far closer result than anticipated.
