Dangerous offender with 'deviant sexual preferences' should be charged, parole board recommends

The Parole Board of Canada is recommending that Harvey Joseph Venus, a dangerous offender with a history of sexual offenses against minors, face charges for violating his long-term supervision order. Released in February 2024, Venus was caught driving without a license and with a stolen registration, prompting the board to conclude he poses a substantial risk to society. They have suggested he be charged with failing to comply with the supervision order, which could result in an additional ten years in prison, following his initial four-year sentence for sexual interference.
