Damning ‘no confidence’ vote leaves questions over Victoria Police Commissioner’s contract

Victoria Police Commissioner Shane Patton’s contract will not be renewed following a vote of no confidence by officers within the force, with 87.13% of more than 12,000 officers voting against him. Despite this, Patton has stated that he will continue to lead the organization, with no indication of stepping down. The decision comes after concerns over rising crime rates, falling morale, and unresolved issues such as a pay deal.
