Summary
Stuart Nineham took his own life after being devastated by the sudden death of his 13-day-old son, Roman, and the subsequent police investigation into the circumstances of the infant’s death. An inquest revealed that the investigation found no evidence of neglect, but the pressure and public perception surrounding the tragedy led to significant emotional distress for Nineham, who began self-medicating with alcohol and drugs. The coroner concluded that Nineham’s struggles with grief, compounded by the news of his partner’s new pregnancy, ultimately resulted in his suicide.
