Valerie, a miniature dachshund, went missing on Kangaroo Island, Australia, in November 2023, evading capture for 529 days despite sightings by locals. Recently rescued, she is undergoing rehabilitation before reuniting with her owners, Josh Fishlock and Georgia Gardner, who had searched for her for five days after her disappearance. Valerie’s survival involved foraging for food in the wild, and although she has some scars and is thinner, she has shown remarkable resilience and is adapting well to her return to domestic life.
