Investigation Clears Manitoba Premier and Officials in AHS Procurement

Former Manitoba judge Raymond Wyant’s investigation into Alberta’s health procurement practices cleared Premier Danielle Smith and government officials of wrongdoing but found that AHS did not follow proper procedures, with two AHS staffers in conflicts of interest. Wyant made 18 recommendations to improve procurement and conflict-of-interest policies after examining allegations related to children’s pain medication and surgical contracts.
