Singer and songwriter d4vd, whose real name is David Burke, has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The Los Angeles Police Department announced that Burke, 21, is being held without bail following a grand jury investigation into the case. Hernandez’s dismembered remains were discovered on September 8, 2025, in the trunk of a Tesla registered to Burke, parked in a Hollywood tow yard. The body was “severely decomposed” when found, raising serious concerns about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance. Rivas had been reported missing over a year ago, last seen on April 5, 2024. Following the identification of the remains, Burke canceled multiple shows on his 2025 world tour. The case is set to be presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office for formal charges.

Why It Matters

The arrest of d4vd highlights ongoing concerns regarding violence against minors and the implications of celebrity status in serious criminal cases. The discovery of Rivas’s remains in such a horrific condition raises questions about safety and the effectiveness of law enforcement in preventing and addressing such crimes. Moreover, the case underscores the social responsibility of public figures and the potential impact of their actions on fans and communities. As the investigation unfolds, it may prompt discussions on broader issues of accountability and protection for vulnerable individuals.
