On September 17, 2023, a nurse in Lebanon, known as Adam, experienced a life-altering explosion when a pager distributed by Hezbollah, intended for emergency alerts, detonated due to an Israeli plan to sabotage the group. Adam lost several fingers and his sight, yet remains committed to Hezbollah, viewing his injuries as a “medal from God.” This incident marked a significant escalation in the renewed conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which reignited following the October 2023 Hamas attacks on Israel, leading to widespread violence and destruction on both sides of the border.
