The group engaged in surveillance activities, discussed kidnapping and killing targets, and used sophisticated spying equipment, with their operations directed by Orlin Roussev, who received instructions from Jan Marsalek, an intermediary for Russian intelligence services. The spy cell also included other members with various professions, such as a beautician, painter and decorator, and financial firm chief technology officer, who were involved in espionage activities under Roussev’s leadership.
