Nigeria Claims DR Congo Committed Fraud in World Cup Qualifying
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Nigeria is seeking to overturn their defeat to the Democratic Republic of Congo in a recent African play-off final by alleging that DR Congo fielded ineligible players, specifically those who changed their nationality. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) claims that players like Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Axel Tuanzebe were ineligible under Congolese law prohibiting dual citizenship. In response, the Congolese Football Federation (Fecofa) has dismissed Nigeria’s complaint as an attempt to “win via the back door,” labeling them as “bad losers.” The NFF has provided supporting documents to FIFA, which is yet to respond.
