US charges man over alleged Iranian plot to kill Trump

The US government has charged Farhad Shakeri, an Iranian man, with an alleged plot to assassinate Donald Trump before he became president. Shakeri, believed to be in Iran, was directed by an official in Iran’s Revolutionary Guard to devise a plan to surveil and kill Trump. Two others were also charged in connection with the plot, including a plan to kill an American journalist critical of Iran.
