Approximately 48 million Gmail usernames and passwords were leaked in a publicly accessible database, which also included credentials from Facebook, Instagram, and Yahoo, totaling 149 million compromised accounts. Security researcher Jeremiah Fowler discovered the unprotected database, which contained past breach data. Google confirmed the leaked data was from ‘infostealer’ malware logs collected over time and stated they have protections in place. Users are advised to check their accounts using Have I Been Pwned and change passwords if compromised.
