Bad Bunny has been cast in Toy Story 5 as a character named Pizza With Sunglasses. The 32-year-old artist, known for his performances in the Super Bowl Halftime Show and movies like Bullet Train, will voice a member of a group of “forgotten toys” living in an abandoned backyard shed. The film is directed by Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton, who has a long history with the Toy Story franchise, as well as other well-known animated films. Alongside Bad Bunny, characters will include Smarty Pants, voiced by Conan O’Brien, and a frog-styled tablet voiced by Greta Lee. Toy Story 5 continues the story from the previous film, focusing on Bonnie, now eight years old, who becomes attached to a new tablet toy named Lilypad. The movie is set to premiere in theaters on June 19, 2026.
Why It Matters
The Toy Story franchise, which began in 1995, is a cornerstone of animated cinema and has a significant cultural impact, being the first feature-length film made entirely with CGI. Each installment has explored themes of friendship, identity, and the evolving nature of childhood play. The addition of high-profile voices like Bad Bunny indicates the franchise’s continued relevance and appeal to contemporary audiences, particularly younger viewers. Toy Story 5 aims to address modern themes, such as the relationship between children and technology, reflecting societal changes since the series’ inception.
