Kuna, Idaho, transitioning from a farming town to a hub for data centers, recently approved a rezoning request for the $1 billion Gemstone Technology Park, which will sit on 620 acres of agricultural land. This center, backed by Diode Ventures, will require significant electricity, consuming enough to power up to 520,000 homes, and promises substantial contributions to local services. Public opinion is divided, with concerns about water usage and agricultural preservation countered by the potential for job creation and reduced property tax burdens.
