The owners of a Colorado funeral home, Jon and Carie Hallford, pleaded guilty to 191 counts of abuse of a corpse after being accused of storing bodies in poor conditions and providing concrete instead of ashes to families. The couple misused COVID relief funds for personal expenses and could face up to 20 years in prison. Some families of the deceased expressed outrage and the case may still go to trial if the judge rejects the plea deal.
