Ex-hospital bosses call for inquiry into Letby baby deaths to be suspended

Former bosses of the hospital where nurse Lucy Letby murdered babies have requested the suspension of the public inquiry into the events surrounding her crimes, following a panel of experts attributing the deaths to bad medical care and natural causes. Letby, serving life for killing infants, hopes for a retrial as the inquiry hears closing submissions and criticism of failures to learn from past cases involving harm to babies in hospitals. Lady Justice Thirlwall is expected to release the final report this autumn.
