WillaFilmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania shifted her focus to create “The Voice of Hind Rajab” after hearing a distressing emergency call from six-year-old Hind Rajab during the 2024 Gaza siege, where she was killed alongside family and rescuers. The film blends documentary and drama, depicting the tragic events through the lens of Red Crescent volunteers, while provoking empathy around the ongoing conflict. Critics praised its emotional impact, although some questioned the ethics of combining real calls with dramatization. The director, who consulted Hind’s mother, aimed to respect the volunteers’ testimonies and not conduct an investigation, as previous inquiries already addressed the circumstances of Hind’s death.
