Syrian rebels take control of majority of Aleppo, observers say

Rebel forces in Syria, led by HTS and allied factions, have seized control of the majority of Aleppo in a significant offensive against the government, resulting in over 300 deaths since Wednesday. The rebels were able to capture key government buildings and areas without facing significant resistance, prompting fears of further displacement and escalating violence among civilians. Russia has launched air raids in Aleppo for the first time since 2016, as the rebel advance poses a significant challenge to the authority of the Syrian government and its ally, Russia.
