Sudan militia leader found guilty of war crimes in Darfur

A Sudanese militia leader, Ali Muhammad Ali Abd-Al-Rahman (Ali Kushayb), has been found guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the Darfur conflict from 2003 to 2004, marking the first ICC trial related to these atrocities. The Janjaweed, which he led, systematically targeted non-Arab populations, and similar violence persists in the ongoing civil war in Sudan, with many former fighters now part of the Rapid Support Forces.
