Clemson signs Chris Johnson Jr. from SMU

Clemson has secured its first offensive transfer portal addition by signing SMU running back Chris Johnson Jr. during his campus visit. Johnson, known for his speed and big-play potential, rushed for 479 yards and four touchdowns in the 2025 season, including a strong performance against Clemson. He brings two years of eligibility and joins wide receiver Tristan Smith as the only offensive transfers for the Tigers in recent cycles. Johnson previously played at Miami and was on Clemson’s radar in high school.
