Since April 2023, Sudan has been engulfed in civil war due to a power struggle between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), leading to over 150,000 deaths and a humanitarian crisis affecting 12 million people. The conflict stems from disagreements over military integration and governance following the 2019 ousting of President Omar al-Bashir, exacerbating the country’s pre-existing poverty and instability.
