The Park Forest 1950s House Museum had to relocate all its artifacts, including the entire kitchen, to a former classroom at St. Mary Catholic School in 2015 due to a change in ownership. The museum, established 26 years ago to celebrate the village’s 50th anniversary, houses a trove of historical archives and artifacts from Park Forest’s post-World War II suburb development, but its future is now uncertain as the church faces closure. The museum features displays of vintage items from the 1950s, including a popular annual Valentine’s Day exhibit, attracting visitors who reminisce about their own homes and childhood memories.
