Starship Technologies has launched delivery robots in Leeds for Uber Eats, offering dishes like pad thai and smash burgers. This is the first European rollout for the company, which previously operated in countries like Japan and the US. The battery-powered robots can travel up to 2km and have already saved over 700 tonnes of CO2 emissions in Europe. With 15 robots initially deployed, they aim to provide an efficient and eco-friendly delivery option while allowing customers to choose between human or robot delivery.
