Cody Adams charged with manslaughter in woman’s death

An Oklahoma man, Cody Adams, has been charged with first-degree manslaughter after a bullet he fired during target practice on Christmas Day struck and killed Sandra Phelps while she was sitting on her porch. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots before Phelps collapsed, and investigators found that the bullet entered her arm and traveled downward into her chest. Adams admitted to shooting a new Glock .45-caliber handgun and indicated there was no proper backstop behind his property. He was released on a $100,000 bond after appearing in court.
