U.S. Men’s National Team player Christian Pulisic suffered a fractured right leg during the team’s World Cup match against Belgium, which resulted in a 4-1 loss. The U.S. Soccer Federation announced that Pulisic has a bone bruise and a microfracture in his tibia and fibula, with the injury confirmed via X-ray and MRI. He sustained the injury while attempting a shot in the 52nd minute and was substituted shortly after. Pulisic, who has 30 goals in 90 international appearances, will miss several weeks of play and would not have been able to continue in the tournament if the U.S. had advanced. He is expected to return to training before AC Milan’s Serie A opener against Torino on August 23, marking his fourth season with the club.

Why It Matters

Christian Pulisic’s injury is significant as it impacts both the U.S. Men’s National Team and his club, AC Milan. Pulisic has been a key player for the national team, having represented the U.S. in multiple tournaments and contributing significantly to their scoring record. His absence could affect the team’s performance in future international competitions, as well as Milan’s lineup for the upcoming Serie A season. Additionally, the 2026 World Cup will be a critical event for the U.S., and Pulisic’s fitness will be essential for the team’s success.
