In response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs exceeding 100% on Chinese goods, China raised its duties on American products to 84% and imposed restrictions on 18 U.S. companies, escalating the ongoing trade war.
Beijing criticized the U.S. for undermining multilateral trade rules and issued travel advisories for its citizens in the U.S. amid deteriorating relations, while a recent white paper claimed the trade imbalance results from structural issues in the U.S. economy.
Despite the tensions, Chinese officials expressed determination to respond forcefully to U.S. trade restrictions, emphasizing that there are no winners in a trade war.
