China has freed 3 Americans following an apparent prisoner swap deal with the U.S.

Three Americans, including businessman Mark Swidan, Kai Li, and John Leung, were freed from Chinese prisons in a reported swap deal brokered by the Biden administration, with the Chinese government not confirming the details. The State Department announced the Americans are now home, reuniting with their families after years of detainment, as the travel advisory for mainland China and Hong Kong was lowered due to risks of wrongful detentions and exit bans, potentially related to the prisoner release. In a separate incident, an American pastor was also released from a Chinese prison in September after more than 18 years.
