The Chinese and Dutch governments are at loggerheads over control of chipmaker amid concerns for global supply chains.
China has urged the Netherlands to withdraw its bid to control Nexperia, a chipmaker owned by Wingtech, claiming it threatens global supply chains. The Dutch government imposed restrictions on Nexperia, citing fears of production relocations to China, following U.S. warnings about sanctions due to the company’s Chinese CEO. Although the Netherlands suspended its order after talks with Beijing, a court ruling remains in place removing the CEO. The dispute has escalated, with China retaliating by blocking exports of chips from Nexperia’s facilities, impacting global automakers like Honda and Nissan.
