Myanmar’s military government and the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) have signed a ceasefire agreement brokered by China, marking the second pact in over a year. The ethnic rebel group, consisting of the Kokang minority, has been fighting for autonomy and is allied with the People’s Defense Force. China, concerned about instability along its border, is actively supporting peace talks and negotiations in northern Myanmar.
