In 2023, life expectancy was highest in the Loop at 87.3 years and lowest in West Garfield Park at 66.6 years. Johnson emphasizes a dual approach of increasing investments in education and housing while simultaneously tackling crime and drug issues. He believes that with continued focus and support, improvements in life expectancy for all Chicagoans are achievable.
