Miami Seaquarium Closes Permanently

The Miami Seaquarium, a historic tourist destination known for its dolphin and orca shows and featured in the 1960s series “Flipper,” has closed after decades of animal rights protests and welfare complaints. Plans are underway to redevelop the site into a new aquarium without marine mammals, along with a research center, shops, and a public baywalk.
